Mustarinda

Studio Residency at Mustarinda, Hyransalmi, Finland during April 2019. The residency was an opportunity to explore working with algae ‘extracts’, devised and processed as modes of energetic and textual exchange that considered carbon consumption. I devised a collaborative workshop with fellow artists in residence to explore these ideas and materials. Further developments include ongoing Carbon Extract photographs, coal is balanced on trees and organic bodies in ways that appear to shape them through contact. BIOBroth is a continuing series of experiments working with agar as both mold and mould that generates its own bacterial brew.
